Cole is an ordinary, likable man whose life has taken a dark turn since witnessing a horrific murder-suicide. Haunted by disturbing hallucinations, he faces the collapse of his marriage and a steep career decline, now working a blue-collar job with a carpet cleaning company. Just as his world seems to be falling apart, Cole is sent on a late-night cleaning assignment at an Italianate mansion located far from the city. Accompanying him is Henry, the wealthy and arrogant homeowner who appears to derive twisted satisfaction from making Cole believe he may have just killed his wife. A mysterious reddish stain on the carpet, a knife chopping into baked rabbit, and a relentlessly ringing cell phone—all these unsettling clues blur the line between reality and madness.
